The Montessori School Staff
Classroom Staff
The Montessori School prides itself on the quality of its staff.
Our one classroom school of 30 students will have three adults in the room both in the morning and the afternoon.
Our Teacher-Guides have at least a Bachelor’s Degree and the specialized Montessori Training for children 2 years 7 months to 6 years of age. They also have Pennsylvania Private Academic Schools Certification (or are in the process of approval). They stay up-to-date on the latest trends in education by regularly attending National or Regional Conferences and Workshops.
Our goal is to always have two Montessori-trained, PA state-certified Teacher-Guides with an Assistant. At a minimum, there will be one Montessori-trained, PA state-certified Teacher- Guide with a Montessori Student/Intern Teacher-Guide and an Assistant.
Enrichment Staff
Music
Our children have a music class once a week with a Music Specialist. The children are divided by age into three groups. Our youngest children enjoy singing and movement activities to begin learning about beats and pitch. The program increases in skill levels as the children mature. The kindergartners learn about musical notes and learn how to begin to play an instrument - usually a xylophone or keyboard.
Spanish
Our children, who come to school for four or five days, have Spanish class. They are divided into two mixed-age groups so our older children can set an example for our younger children. Our Spanish Specialist does conversational Spanish, sings songs, practices counting, and plays games to practice Spanish vocabulary with our children.
ALL STAFF MEMBERS HAVE RECEIVED CHILD ABUSE AND CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK CLEARANCES. OUR STAFF HAS CPR AND FIRST AID CERTIFICATION.
